I just love the last week of June! It’s the start of a new season (Summer!) and the end of the second quarter/half the year.

It’s the perfect time to do some self-reflecting and evaluating. Am I on track for the rest of 2024? Does everything still jive?

Today, I am looking at my Values in Action (VIA) Strengths by retaking the assessment. (Here’s the link if you’d like to take the free version: https://RebelontheGo.pro.viasurvey.org/)

I focus on numbers 1-5 as these are my TOP STRENGTHS. I lean into these strengths because they make me happy, more positive, and confident in my daily interactions plus make it easier for me to accomplish my goals. My top 5 are: Love of Learning, Humor, Curiosity, Creativity, and Perspective. And as a bonus #6 - Love.

What is really cool about VIA Character Strengths is the number of potential character strengths profiles is exponentially greater than the number of people living on Earth. Each of us is truly one of a kind.

Talk about a Unique Selling Proposition. We truly are all one of a kind.

Next I will look at numbers 20-24 as these are my LESSER STRENGTHS. I don’t spend a lot of time with these. I know that I can focus on one or two for self-improvement or continue to work with people who can help to supplement my lesser strengths. For this quarter, I will stick with supplementation.

I like to sit with these strengths to see how I feel. Am I shaking my head no way to any of them? Not me! Have any changed significantly? Surprisingly? Time for reflection!

I know a lot of times experts will give a list of values and tell you to circle a certain number that you are most drawn to. What I don’t like about this exercise is it isn’t scientific. The values you select maybe aspirational or based on societal pressures. It is important to have values and character strengths that are truly yours.
